Revisiting the magical sea char lake!

A couple of weeks ago I (John) and our receptionist Darja decided to go fishing on our free day. Darja had talked all season how much she wanted to be guided on some great fishing so she could catch here first fish, and more important have a photo with a fish published on the blog!

We went with our new quad bikes to the magical sea char lake where I had guided a couple of fishing groups before. When arrived at the lake I instructed Darja how to use a spin rod and some tips and tricks how to make the sea char bite! As all other things Darja gets to try for the first time she very quickly learned how to cast. It did not take long time until she had hooked a sea char and then she caught 4 more during the day. Even if the weather situation where not the best we succeeded to catch 23 sea char all and all.

Next fishing challenge for Darja is next season when I bring here on halibut fishing!

Quad bikes!

We are happy to introduce our new adventure Quad Bike Safaris!

We can offer 5 brand new Quad bikes for guided tours, mountain lake fishing for Trout and river fishing for salmon. Two weeks ago we tested them by riding along Laggo river and up on the mountains with our guests with great success. Without any problem we could get to lakes which are really difficult with only walking as transport.

We now have several tours with Quad bikes all from 4 hours sightseeing to several days out in the heart of the wilderness in untouched mountains with unbelievable safari adventures and great lakes for arctic char and trout fishing!

Great brown trout fishing

Yesterday John and Vidar trailed the quad bikes to a dirt road here at Nordkyn peninsula where they met up with Peter and Lynda. The target for the day was big brown trout in a lake we know produces big fish. After driving the quad bikes for a while they parked them and walk the rest of the distance to the lake. As usual Peter hooks a fish directly down at a bay, Peter and Vidar are continuing fishing in the bay and catch the next after the other. When 30 minutes has passed they have caught about 10 big brown trouts and lost as many. The fishing continued around the lake but with poor result, just a trout here and there. When they had fished their way back to the bay John got a serious bite. It was a enormous brown trout that had taken his bait and after a couple of jumps and runaways Vidar secured it. They weight the fish to 3,5 kilos and took some quick photos and then released it back to grow even bigger. After this fish Peter hooked a gorgeous brown trout about 1 kilo and then it was time to head back to Adventure Camp Mehamn.

The trouts where really fat in this lake!

Arctic char fishing with quad bike

These last two days Vidar and John have guided Peter and Lynda on freshwater fishing after arctic char and brown trout. We trailed 4 of our new quad bikes with to a small road that’s going long in to the mountains. We had quite tuff weather yesterday, it was times when it not only was windy but also snowed. We didn’t think that much about the bad weather when it was so fun to ride the quad bikes and the fishing turn out to be really good. In the end of the day we had caught 16 trouts in two different lakes. Today the weather was better and so was the fishing for arctic char, Peter did as he always does and hooks a char at his second cast. During the next 4 hours of fishing peter caught another 5 arctic chars and John one. Then it was time to head back to Adventure Camp Mehamn, but no sad faces to leave the good fishing when we had 30 minutes of quad bike riding ahead of us!

bad weather but happy fishermen!
