Today we were out on another cod fishing tour

Early this morning we went out on Barents Sea outside Mehamn to fish some cod.
During the day we caught a lot of good size cod and one of the guests were lucky and caught a halibut! Now we areback at Adventure Camp Mehamn and we are all totally exhausted after fighting big fish all day!

Today we were out with two of our new boats and fished some codfish. The morning started quit slow but after changing place it all went better. We caught a lot of good size cod and the boats where excellent to drive out here on Barents Sea!

The last week Adventure Camp Mehamn has had snowmobile guests from Germany and France visiting our camp. Both groups started from north of Finland with guide and made their way up to us here to Barents Sea. After an evening with sauna and dinner such as King Crab and Halibut they headed back to Finland the next day.

2012 first skrei fishing tour

Today the weather got really great so we decided that today was a good day to do this year’s first skrei fishing tour.

 Skrei is cod fish that lives down in the deep parts of Barents Sea most of the year but in early mars the cod fish gathers to spawn close to the Norwegian coastline and then they are called skrei.

At noon today me and Vidar the Viking went out with two guests on our big boat Viking Explorer to locate and fish skrei that are swimming in big schools. The day was a great success, even though we didn’t fish for more than 4 hours we manage to catch plenty with skrei and the three biggest was 16, 18 and 18,5 kilo. During the following weeks more and more skrei will gather along our coast until it’s almost not room for more so we look forward for a couple of month of really good cod fishing!

New fishing groups has arrived

Today two Germans groups arrived to Adventure Camp Mehamn. They are visiting us for one week to explore the fishing here at Barents Sea. This morning they went out with two boats to try out the fishing here for their first time. We wish them tight lines and an eventful week!

66,4 kilos halibut!

The Swedish team from Havsfiskeguiden has been here to explore the fishing on Nordkyn

Peninsula. They where here for three days and caught a lot of cod over 10 kilos and several about 15 kilo. During these three days we caught 5 halibut and with a top on 66,4 kilo. It took Micke from Havsfiskeguiden about 40 minutes to fight this queen of the depth. Two hours later David also from Havsfiskeguiden, hooked a halibut that directly did a 70 meters run and then went loose. The day before our German guests fight a halibut for 45 minutes that later cut the line. The big halibuts seems to arrived to the north shores of Barents Sea.
